Divine earth at the height of man—what world is being discussed? Our tangible universe stems from a cosmos largely incomprehensible, from which comes our connection to nature and, more intimately, to the sacred, to divinity, and to ritual. How can we make a spectacle of this essence?
Through the splendor of song and its staging, Ensemble La Sportelle, guided by guest conductor Loïc Pierre, offers some initial answers. Through carefully chosen works and connections woven between them by an inspired recitative, the musicians create a total spectacle where Nordic folk songs, reimagined American gospels, and French adaptations of sacred music from around the world are blended together. A natural, contemporary, and musical liturgy lifts us to the Babel of languages, harmonies, and rare melodies.
Each listener will find their own understanding, even their own explanation: some will see the natural splendor of our planet, others will be moved by the universality of the message, but all will be shaken by a burst of beauty. The poet’s guiding thread adds to the emotion, leading the audience to a true emotional shock. Shaken and then overwhelmed by this hour of uninterrupted music, without applause, by this perfectly crafted staging and lighting, and by this exalted lyricism, the audience will feel they have shared a divine spark of inspiration with the artist for a long time.
The concert texts are in French.
