The Ensemble La Sportelle joins forces with Le Concert de la Loge, conducted by Julien Chauvin, for a Bach program featuring his Magnificat and Cantata BWV 21 “Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis.”

Composed in Weimar in 1713, BWV 21 Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis unfolds a journey from anguish to trust, alternating between solo voices and choruses. Ten years later in Leipzig, the Magnificat BWV 243 sets Mary’s song of joy to music in twelve contrasting sections. These two works, tracing a path from lament to exultation, will be performed in a chamber version by Le Concert de la Loge and the soloist choir Ensemble la Sportelle.
