Sacred music, throughout the centuries, has expressed the great stages of human existence: wonder, doubt, trust, and adoration

CONTEMPLATION 1

This program, designed as an inner journey, resonates with these universal emotions through works ranging from the Renaissance to the 20th century. From the very first notes, the Gregorian O Magnum Mysterium and its sublime reinterpretations by Pierre Villette and John Tavener immerse us in the wonder of a beginning. But the light wavers with Lobo’s Versa est in Luctum and Mendelssohn’s poignant Mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen?, where doubt and sorrow find their voice.

Music then paves the way for reconciliation, carried by Victoria’s Ave Maris Stella and Tavener’s Mother of God, Here I Stand, before culminating in a pure elevation with Guerrero’s Lauda Mater Ecclesia and Messiaen’s mystical O Sacrum Convivium.

Through an immersive staging, this program weaves a dialogue between eras and styles, guiding us through a musical reflection on the meaning of life. An intimate yet universal experience, where the beauty of choral singing becomes a mirror of our emotions and questions.
